The latest version of messenger is a little dirty. even if you sign out and exit (always recommended for the serious gamer) it still leaves a reasonably memory hungry process running
the only way to clobber it is to right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and open task manager. look for a process called usnsvc.exe. highlight this process and use the "end process" button to kill it. you will need to do this everytime you use messenger or before you play. it uses about 2.7 k of memory, but these things add up
any question about this or using task manager to clean up your process list feel free to ask

i don't really have a qustion, more of a comment:
i haven't used MSN in several months now because i use a program callied trillian. basically, it lets you use MSN, AIM, YIM, ICQ, and IRC all in one program. it also has the advantage of not being made by any big companies that happen to have advertising deals... so no annoying adds (i actually saw porn adds a few times at night while on AIM).
lets me keep track of my various contacts across the board ^_^

as you can see ive long been a proponent of shutting down any potential lag causing process, unlike fakean who deliberatly runs file downloads or windows media player downloads to cause lag thereby cheating
the dates above are not made up. ive always been about a fair game

Well I learned something new..
I'm so old school I always just did the 3 finger salute (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to bring up the Task Manager. I never knew you could just right click on the task bar.

Yeah me too mate, I only ever use Ctrl+Alt+Delete. But there are 2 ways to do anything in windows, with the mouse and with the keyboard.

"Ctrl+Shift+Esc" is the most direct keyboard way to bring up the Task Manager, as far as I know...
