There is a of a new Mechwarrior game being developed by Piranha Games as well as a 9 second video to accompany it. I know for a fact that a true developer with a custom game engine will have a much better chance of creating an amazing game than a mod team ever will, lets hope they do a good job on the new game if it really is true. There is quite a discussion thread on the MWLL forum regarding this subject. Apparently there are 3 videos released now. Also there is quite a bit of speculation that this will be a console game and not a PC game....possibly another mechassault disaster.
I note that there is no announcement of a release date which tells me that developement at best would be at least a year away

Now I finally have at least 1 pc game I can't wait for. ;D It indeed does look very good graphically (although coming from MW4... what doesn't?) and that trailer is easily attainable if it's a target trailer, though it does look like it could be in-game as well. The voice acting sounds like it got a little upgrade and will at least be passable this time around since I definitely know the VO from MW4 Mercs is an example of the bad variety. I'm really hoping they'll have a Hellhound in the game, but I have no clue as to what mechs what will be available in the period the game is set in.
